so in case you haven't noticed, i've taken a little hiatus from 'lost' fic for a while - i don't know, i'm just not feeling it right now.  i hope that changes when the show returns, because you all write some amazing fic and i miss you! 

in the meantime, i've been reading some SPN fic and i have to rec this one for anyone who may not have read it: 'blind spot' by pdragon76

it's a gen fic, set six months after AHBL2.  dean is dealing with the end of his year coming up when meg comes back in the picture, and i don't want to tell you anymore, because you should go read it right now!  or you know, later, because it's pretty epic, with 14 chapters.  but go bookmark it now!

what i love about it is the characterization - a lot of times in my fic, i struggle with character's voices - "would they actually say that?".  i could totally see them talking as i read this fic, even felt like i was in their heads with them.  bobby is also featured prominently, and i adore him.  the plot and pacing are stellar, much told via flashback along the way, and i just wish i could tell a story like she does.

i'm shocked at the lengths this person went to to legitimize what was ultimately a falsehood.  my theory is, if you've got a good story, embrace it!  being able to create fiction that seems like it could have actually happened would be quite the coup, imho.  so my question is, if it's not actually what happened to you, what is the benefit of framing it that way?  is it what makes that initial deal happen (or what the writer thinks the publisher wants to hear to make the initial deal happen)?  or is it something in their personality that makes them want to re-write their own ordinary past? 

what do you guys think?

How do I begin listing the many examples of your fabulous-ness?  Shall I start with having a bunch of fangirls crammed into your car on the way to Biltmore?  Or the incredibly yummy dinner you and zelda_zee made for us all?  Or maybe it's just your amazing, warm personality.  I loved sipping coffee on the porch with you in Tennessee, having discussions about writing and life.  We need to do that again soon!

i've been home sick all day and i still feel crappy and i haven't been able to sleep at all and it's 2:30 in the morning and i absolutely have to go to work tomorrow and i have all this hard shit to do (plus a client meeting) and i'm frustrated.

i'm watching 'house hunters' and every place has stainless steel appliances! am i the only one in the world who doesn't care about these? maybe it's because i used to work in a lab and they remind me of that.

I think today may have been the longest day of my life.  And it hasn't stopped raining for days.  Who thought I'd be missing snow?  We have had some fabulous 4am thunderstorms the past couple of days though...

So I give you the 'Rainy Days & Mondays' Mix!  Because they both get me down, and sometimes you just need musical allies.

Yay, it's Thursday!  Except what's up with having 'Lost' and 'Supernatural' on at the same time?  Oh, and it's 'Celebrity Rehab' night too!  Why don't they spread these out so all the shows I watch aren't crammed into the same night?  I have one VCR, people! 

Speaking of scheduling snafus, remember when 'Lost' was supposed to come back in February?  It's nice to have it back a week sooner, but I had bought tickets to see DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist tonight (wheeee!) and will not be home until late.  :-(  So I'll probably be avoiding you guys tomorrow.  But there will be squeeing eventually, I'm sure!

it's new year's eve!  crazy.  a year ago, i decided to jump into LJ and fandom with both feet and i have to say, it was a great choice.  my flist is populated with so many cool people, several of whom i was lucky enough to meet in person and can call true friends.  i wrote a decent amount, and i'm happy with most of it.  i am healthy, as is my family.  all in all, it's been a great year.  i'm quite a lucky girl. :-)
